This is the complete list of where the different Ore is found all over the continents of World of Warcraft. This list was compiled tediously by the help of Gatherer, WoWWiki, MapWoW and from my own traveling experiences. Therefore, this is an original primary mining and secondary prospecting guide. The abbreviations associated to each region are as follows: NW = North West, NE = North East, N = North, C = Central, SW = South West, SE = South East, S = South, W = West, E = East, Sp = Spread-out. Note that you will still find designated ore in other areas of the same region, but the listed abbreviation denotes the higher concentration.

The bracketed numbers mean (mining skill minimum/prospecting skill minimum). If there is only one number, it represents the mining skill and prospecting is unavailable.

9. Dark Iron (230)

This rare ore can only be found inside Blackwing Lair and can only be smelted into bars on The Black Forge inside Blackrock Depths.

According to WoWwiki.com:
The forge is located just before the bridge leading into the former Molten Core entrance and just after the Summoners’ Tomb. Upon exiting the room of the Seven, turn right, and then immediately left – there will be a small bridge leading to a single Fireguard Destroyer. The Forge is directly behind it.

10. Elementium (300)

Like Dark Iron, Elementium can only be found inside Blackwing Lair dropped by Blackwing Technicians.

According to WoWwiki.com:
Elementium Ore is the hardest metal known in Azeroth. Very rare and difficult to find and process, it is used in the creation of extremely powerful weapons and armor. The ore can only be found in Blackwing Lair and the materials and knowledge required to make use of it can only be obtained with the backing of a raiding guild.

The ore can be used for several epic-level quests or to create Elementium Bars, which are used in the creation of [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker].

11. Small & Large Obsidian Shard (305)

Small and Large Obsidian shards can only be found inside Ahn’Qiraj by defeating some mobs.

12. Fel Iron (300)

Fel Iron Ore can be be prospected by Jewelcrafters at 275 skill level. Fel Iron ore can only be found in the Outlands.
