- You can learn these skills from the Apprentice/Journeyman First Aid trainer. If you don’t know where that is, head into any Capital and ask a guard.
- Linen Bandages (cloth from humanoids lvl 3-27)
- Heavy Linen Bandages (cloth from humanoids lvl 3-27)
- Wool Bandage (cloth from humanoids lvl 14-36, sheep skinning)
- Heavy Wool Bandage (cloth from humanoids lvl 14-36, sheep skinning)
- To skill up beyond 150, you learn it through a book called “Expert First Aid – Under Wraps” you can purchase from a vendor.
For Alliance, you get this from Deneb Walker inside Stromgarde Keep in the Arathi Highlands.
For Horde, you get this from Balai Lok’Wein inside Brackenwall Village in Dustwallow Marsh.
As well, make sure to purchase the “Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage” (skill 180) for 22 silver and “Manual: Mageweave Bandage” (skill 210) for 50 silver from the vendor, so you can learn it later.
- Silk Bandage (cloth from humanoids 19-47)
- Heavy Silk Bandage (cloth from humanoids 19-47)
- Mageweave Bandage (cloth from humanoids 28-51)

First, you need to be level 35 and have a First Aid level of 225. Second, you need to do a quest to learn Artisan First Aid.
For Alliance, you will need to find Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen inside Theramore Isle in Dustwallow Marsh.
For Horde, you will need to find Doctor Gregory Victor inside Hammerfall in the Arathi Highlands. These two NPC’s will give you a quest called “Triage”. All you have to do is use the bandages the NPC gives you to bandage up the wounded that appears on the floor around you. If too many wounded die under your care, you fail the mission and you’ll have to abandon it and get it again.
The ‘trick’ is to stand in the middle and have your camera angle look straight down or almost straight down. Then place the Triage in an empty slot on your action bar that is bound to a key. All you have to do now is click the injured soldier and the key and things should be pretty easy for you.
At skill 240, the NPC will teach you how to make “Heavy Mageweave Bandage”. At skill 260, the NPC will teach “Runecloth Bandage” and at 290, “Heavy Runecloth Bandage”.
- Heavy Mageweave Bandage (cloth from humanoids 28-51)
- Runecloth Bandage (cloth from humanoids 47-71)
- Heavy Runecloth Bandage (cloth from humanoids 47-71)
-
You can get this book from a vendor in the Outlands called “Master First Aid – Doctor in the House” for 5g.
For Alliance, you get it from Burko inside Temple of Telhamat in Hellfire Peninsula.
For Horde, you get it from Aresella inside Falcon Watch in Hellfire Peninsula. Both NPC’s sells the “Manual: Netherweave Bandage” for 2g and the “Manual: Heavy Netherweave Bandage“” for 4g.
- Netherweave Bandage (cloth from humanoids 56-71)
- Heavy Netherweave Bandage (cloth from humanoids 56-71)
*Yes, you can learn beyond 300 if you DO NOT have the TBC expansion. You just need to get the book to learn it. Ask someone to get it for you from the Outlands or look for it in the Auction House.

To obtain Grand Master First Aid, you will need to have a FA skill of 350 and 50g, as well as the WotLK expansion.
For Alliance, you can get this through a trainer named Brynna Wilson at Valiance Keep in the Borean Tundra, or from another trainer named Anchorite Yazmina at Valgarde in the Howling Fjord.
For Horde, you can get this through a trainer named Nurse Applewood at Warsong Hold in the Borean Tundra, or Sally Tompkins at Vengeance Landing in the Howling Fjord.
Both factions can also learn this from Olisarra the Kind located in the Magus Commerce Exchange at Dalaran.
Along with upgrading your skill to Grand Master, you will be able to learn the Frostweave Bandage skill for 8g. To learn Heavy Frostweave Bandage, you will need to have a FA skill of 400. You can obtain this skill from a book called “Manual: Heavy Frostweave Bandage“. This book is a world drop from creatures of Sholazar Basin and Icecrown, as well as level 80 dungeons and raids.
- Frostweave Bandage (cloth from lvl 68 to 82 elite creatures)
- Heavy Frostweave Bandage (cloth from lvl 68 to 82 elite creatures)
*No, you cannot learn Heavy Frostweave Bandage if you do not have the WotLK expansion, as you will need to visit a trainer on Northrend to get your FA skill beyond 375.
- Click on the following links and it will take you to the Thottbot page with the Cloth. Scroll down to the “Dropped By” section and click “SHOW ALL” at the bottom of the table to expand the list. You can also click each column header like “Name” or “Maps” to sort Ascending (once) or Descending (twice).
a) Linen Cloth
b) Wool Cloth
c) Silk Cloth
d) Mageweave Cloth
e) Netherweave Cloth
f) Frostweave Cloth

I suggest you keep learning a First Aid skill if the skill shows up as Orange or Yellow. Once it becomes green, the chance to level up your FA skill is a lot less. It’s also a waste of cloth.
What I do is level my skill up as much as I can before it reaches Green, then stop and wait until I either run out of bandages to use or until I learn a new FA skill in the Orange or Yellow. At Green, if you’re still trying to level up through Heavy Linen Bandages for example, you might as well save the cloth up and sell them in the Auction House.
(Tip by Rifraf) Sometimes there is no other option than to work on items that are green and just stick to it until you get skill bumps. I get between 1-2 skill bumps out of every 10 Heavy Runecloth bandages. It is a pain in the butt and it is taking what seems like forever, but it can be done, and you’ll probably harvest a fair amount of Netherweave while you are farming more Runecloth.

I play a Restoration Shaman and a Discipline Priest. To save mana between mobs, I use bandages on my fellow party members, as well as myself. Then use light heals for left-over damage I need to heal up.
What I do is always keep at least one stack of Frostweave Bandage and at least one stack of Heavy Frostweave Bandage. This allows me to moderate between heavy healing and lower healing.
So making bandages before entering an instance should be well considered. It will save time wasted on drinking for mana.

You can get the first Anti-Venom formula simply called “Anti-Venom” from any Apprentice/Journeyman First Aid trainer. This will cure targets up to level 25. You will need a minimum skill of 80 to learn it.
For the “Strong Anti-Venom“, you need to have a FA skill of 130 to learn it. You can learn this through a book called “Manual: Strong Anti-Venom“. This item is through a World Drop, meaning it is randomly dropped anywhere in the Azeroth world and is nearly impossible to find it. The drop can be found on level 18 to 37 mobs.
For the “Formula: Powerful Anti-Venom“, you need to have FA 300. You can learn this through a formula sold by an Argent Dawn vendor located in the Eastern Plaguelands. You need to be Honored with them. This will cure poisons up to level 60.
*Some people have asked whether the Anti-Venom formula for the First Aid profession is really worth it. If you so happen to be killing spiders and intend to level up your First Aid corresponding the level of the spiders and your FA skill level, then for leveling purposes, it’s great.

since 3.1 trainers have done their homework and no books are needed for any profession

Yup, I finally got enough information to create a new First Aid guide. I’m a bit stoked that the ‘extra’ trainers are no longer needed. It added flavor to the game.
