This guide talks about the basics of making money through your professions. There are five main ways to make money through your professions.

QUICK MENU

1. TWO GATHERING

Any combination will do fine but you might want to go into the Auction House first and see what sells more and how fast they sell. However, I would suggest mining + skinning or herbalism with skinning, as you can track only one type at a time.

    - herbalism
    - mining
    - skinning

Skinning is the easiest profession to gather materials with since you can skin almost every Beast encounter you kill or that others have killed.

At higher levels, you may want to drop one of the gathering professions to complement the remaining gathering profession. Look at Choice B for ideas.

2. ONE PRODUCING & ONE GATHERING

    My suggestions:

    - leather working + skinning
    - jewel crafting + mining
    - alchemy + herbalism
    - blacksmithing + mining
    - engineering + mining
    - engineering + skinning

3. COMBINATION OF SERVICE, GATHERING, PRODUCING

    My suggestions:

    - enchanting + alchemy (xmute primals to help enchanting)
    - enchanting + leather working (to enchant crafted items)
    - enchanting + blacksmithing (to enchant crafted items)
    - enchanting + tailoring (to enchant crafted items)
    - inscription + herbalism
    - inscription + enchanting

4. TWO PRODUCING

This is better and easier for you if you’re at a higher level. My suggestions:

    - jewel crafting + alchemy
    - blacksmithing + alchemy
    - engineering + alchemy
    - engineering + blacksmithing*
    - engineering + tailoring
    - tailoring + alchemy

*This will be an expensive combination but if you have another toon to gather mined and skinned materials, you’re set.

5. SECONDARY PROFESSIONS

You can’t go wrong with learning Fishing and Cooking. Fishing is super tedious. I know. I’m still leveling it after 3.5 years. /cough

With Fishing, you can get ingredients for your Alchemy. As well, you can get various chests and other loot like Strangle Kelp and various cloth.

With Cooking, you can pick up recipes that make food that give certain buffs. Eg: +agility for 30 minutes, +stamina for 60 minutes, etc.

Don’t bother trying to sell Bandages. You might as well keep them for yourself. Take a look at my First Aid Guide in the First Aid section for leveling details.

I've been a computer user since my elementary school years in the 1980's. The first gaming computer I used was a Commodore 64. It wasn't until the early 1990's that I had a chance to own my first PC and it wasn't until the mid 1990's that I played my first massive multiplayer online game, which was called MetalKnights. However, since the 1990's, I have played over three dozen MMO games, some of which included Eve Online, D&D Stormreach, Dark Age of Camelot and Tabula Rasa. Since February 2005, I have been an on and off subscriber to WoW. I'm a casual player that solos mainly and occasionally do Heroics and Raids. I have a level 80 Tauren Restoration Shaman and an 80 Tauren Survival & BM Hunter.

Try http://mapwow.com – use the checklist on the right side to choose the ore and/or herb type.
